*some of NC’s universities. I swear, university buildings are sooooo lovely.*

As my college year comes to a closing, there are so many thing’s I’ve learned this year. As I write this post on the twin sized bed in my empty, once again, jail cell looking room, I’m reminiscing on my past year as a college student. I am writing this so I can realize how I’ve grown from the year before. For people going into college with extremely high expectations that your life is magically change and you’ll finally get your start on life… well, if it happens, you’re ahead of a lot of us.  Going into college, I knew exactly what I wanted to do and felt bad for others who struggled and was questioning their calling. I realized, I didn’t want to do what I thought I wanted to do. As I love graphics and working with designs, I learned that graphic design was not for me.  All I can say is go into college open minded.  Things change. You change. But it’s not a bad change. You grow up from the person you were before. If you want to go to college, do it. It’s a great learning experience. Shooot, I’ve learned that fried chicken Wednesday are the best days of the week, (along with Thursday of course, since I never had a Friday class this year haha three day weekends are awesome!!)  I just beg of you, go into school open minded! You learn a lot, I sure did. This is what i’ve learned here at school. (the list can literally go on forever.)

  1. you learn how to work in groups.
  2. you learn how not to work in groups.
  3. you learn how to get ready for class in record time.
  4. you learn how to speed walk to class in record time.
  5. you learn how to breathe quietly, as those flights of stairs getting to your class was killer. literally.
  6. you learn how many people stay up all night.
  7. you learn how delay a ten page paper until the night of, and ace it. (not sure how but it worked.)
  8. you learn that not everyone knows how to do laundry.
  9. you learn how expensive grocery shopping is.
  10. you learn how to stop taking sunny days for granted.
  11. you learn to ALWAYS bring your umbrella.
  12. you learn to wear your most comfortable pairs of shoes. always.
  13. you learn that homemade meals are the BEST meals.
  14. you learn just how big your dreams are.
  15. you learn how to carry around, what seems like, a 200 pound book bag.
  16. you learn that other people are in the library almost as late as you.
  17. you learn how awesome water is.
  18. you learn how great it is to be healthy.
  19. you learn how awful it is to be sick.
  20. you learn how there are people who are complete opposite of you.
  21. you learn that there are people who are extremely similar to you.
  22. you learn how to survive without sleep.
  23. you learn how to sleep on your forehead. on a book. at a desk. sitting up. with the lights on.
  24. you learn that making friends is so important.
  25. you learn that college is just a huge learning experience in itself.

To people going to university life, may you find lovely friends to surround yourself with and may you have food almost as good as fried chicken Wednesdays. To people not in school, may you get a promotion in your job and may you make food almost as good as fried chicken Wednesdays. Really, I love me some southern cookin’!!  As great as college is, I cannot wait to sleep in my bed and snuggle up to my doggie! Thanks for reading!

As women, we are suppose to help each other as much as possible and not beat up on one another.  Being a girl is hard enough! No need for caddy or rude people. This being said, having little tricks and tips to help living as a girl easier, I am definitely all for it! here’s a list I’ve compiled of simple yet effective beauty hacks!

  1. Deodorant stains? Use baby wipes  –  the most frustrating thing is having white deodorant get on your black shirt.  especially not knowing how to get rid of it… I’ve found that using baby wipes are such a good way of getting rid of the stain.  And if you don’t want to smell like baby wipes, fabric softener sheets work just as well.
  2. Smelly feet? Use dryer sheets  –  Guilty. Working out at the gym can actually come with a con.  When you wear your tennis shoes while sweating can be soooo gross.  Placing a dryer sheet in your shoes after wearing them can make them smell much better.
  3. Static hair? Use dryer sheets  –  (no, i’m not sponsored by dryer sheets haha, they just work miracles.) Some days I just wake up with static in my hair, dryer sheets instantly take it away.
  4. Dirty Hair?  Baby powder  –  If you don’t have time to wash your hair (college life) and don’t have dry shampoo, baby powder works really well. Also makes your hair look blonder. If you don’t have either, a hat works wonders haha
  5. Zit? Use Hydrogen Peroxide  –  Hydrogen Peroxide is also a miracle.  If I have a bump that is so annoying, I usually put hydrogen peroxide on it. It will dry it out and goes away faster. *make sure you don’t put it on all of the time. it’s caused me to have dryer skin*
  6. Want whiter teeth? Use Hydrogen Peroxide  –  When I run out of teeth whitener, I just use a q-tip with some peroxide on it and rub it over my teeth when needed. *be careful not to do this all the time. I’m no dentist but enamel decay could happen if any teeth whitener tricks or products are used. just be smart about it!*
  7. Dirty Makeup Brushes?  –  An inexpensive makeup brush cleaner is using baby shampoo! It is so easy to get the makeup off and not harmful to your skin or brush.
  8. Perfect Cat Eye? Tape it  –  Making the perfect cat eye and wing is sooooo easy when using scotch tape. Just apply scotch tape to the back of your hand (to make the tape not as sticky so peeling it off doesn’t tear at your eyes) and then place on your eye.  Place your eye shadow like you would normally and even do a wing eyeliner and when you’re done, carefully take off the tape.  This will give you a sharp and perfect line for the cateye affect.
  9. Rusty Razor?  Use Olive Oil  –  Having nice razors is a luxury. The hassle is when it begins to look rusty. To rid this, after using it, get a q-tip and put a little bit of Olive Oil on it and rub it over the blades. Good as new!
  10. Perfect Contour?  Use a makeup brush  –  If you don’t have predominate hollow cheeks for contouring, easily achieve the look by placing an eye shadow brush where you want your contour.  It’s soo easy to follow the line and makes contouring much easier.

I hope these tricks are somewhat useful if these are a struggle! If you try them, let me know how they worked for you and if you have any tricks that I haven’t listed, do tell!!  I promise I won’t keep making lists all of the time. I’ll be able to take pictures after school to make the posts more easy on the eyes!  Thanks for reading!!

Looove these television friendships. May have ups and downs but always there! Classics!!

If you have a long distance friendship, relationship, or whatever it is, I feel for you. If you don’t, how lucky are you!! Being in college, i’m sure many people have dealt with these sorts of situations. If it’s your friend, significant other, or family members, that lives 30 minutes away, 2 hours away, a few states away, across the state, or around the world, the struggle is REAL.

Here’s a short list I compiled of the struggles of long distance relationships.

  1. Saying goodbye  –  Probably the worst part of the day.
  2. Explaining your long distance relationship with your near by friends  –  Your near by friends probably know how you met, exactly what they look like, and that you talk all the time!
  3. You constantly blow up each others phone  –  Sorry friend.  I really don’t mean to do this but you just have to be caught up with my busy life! (as the same with theirs.)
  4. Constantly calling  –  Again, sorry friend. I call at the most random times but it’s easier to call and tell stories over the phone rather than text!
  5. Separation anxiety  –  Yes. It’s a thing.
  6. Celebrating holidays without them  – it’s just so sad!! Sometimes you need your best friend on your birthday!
  7. Talking about meeting up  –  stressful. maybe it will or maybe it will not happen. Busy schedules can definitely be an issue.
  8. Not knowing when you’ll see them again  –  ahhhh, the worst!! Like I said in my previous post, you have no idea when you will see them again. BUT technology is great as it will keep you in contact easily.

There! Small list of struggles that most of us deal with.  So if you are dealing with this, you are not the only one.  your reunion is closer than the day before. May you send each other many funny pictures and links and see each other soon!! Remember… it’s worth it! So keep it up. Once you find your forever friend, it doesn’t matter how far away they are!  I hope all of you have a great week. This week is my last week of my spring semester then I’ll be home working for the summer! So excited!!
